Press Release “An Evening Together”: Emfasis Non-Profit Honored Those Who Uphold the Right to Housing and Dignity

Athens, November 18, 2025

Emfasis Non-Profit organized the event "An Evening Together" on Wednesday, November 12, at the Melina Merkouri Cultural Center in Kerameikos to honor its supporters and volunteers, who, through their unwavering commitment, contribute to the realization of the organization's vision: access to the right to shelter and housing for every person, ensuring a life with dignity.

Moments of Recognition and Emotion

The event was honored by the presence of more than 150 representatives of charitable foundations, companies, the Emfasis volunteer corps, and individuals who, since the organization's founding in 2013, have supported its work in many ways.

The presence of Ambassador Alison Duncan was particularly honourable, as the Australian Embassy is one of the supporters of Emfasis Non-Profit.

The Mobile Joy choir, which consists of Organization’s beneficiaries, experienced musicians, members of the Emfasis Team, and volunteers, provided some special moments.

Under the direction of conductor Stacy Koulouris and with the participation of musicians who have been volunteering their time since 2021, the Mobile Joy choir conveyed a message of joy and strength, demonstrating social reintegration and solidarity in action.

A pleasant surprise for the guests of the evening was the performance of favorite songs by Bessy Argyraki, one of Emfasis' supporters, accompanied by the choir.

Emfasis' Vision and Highlights

Maria Karra, Co-founder of the Organization, warmly thanked the guests for their faith and unwavering interest in humanity, emphasizing that: "A society is judged by the way it treats its most vulnerable members." She also stressed that Emfasis' work is expanding into new, critical areas:

● Access to Housing: Supporting more than 3,370 people in accessing safe and permanent housing.

● Climate Homelessness: An increasingly urgent need to provide relief to people affected by natural disasters and extreme weather conditions due to climate change, a phenomenon that creates climate homelessness, a new challenge for the Organization.

● Professional Empowerment: The Organization has served as a springboard for the professional careers of over 80 young social science graduates.

● Volunteer Training: Through the Streetwork Training Institute, nearly 900 volunteers have been trained and continue to develop skills on a daily basis to meet the needs of the field, which is the streets.

Honorary Award and Message of Solidarity

It was a brilliant evening dedicated to recognizing and rewarding all partners, supporters, donors and volunteers.

In this context, a symbolic award ceremony was held for all supporters as a token of gratitude for their long-standing and valuable support for the work of Emfasis Non-Profit.

Continuing Support: The Merry Streetmas Campaign

In closing, Ms. Karra announced the continuation of the iconic Christmas campaign "Merry Streetmas" this year, for the 13th consecutive year, with the same intensity and dedication.

The campaign aims to support more than 800 families facing serious housing and survival problems, reminding us that solidarity knows no season.

The successful event "A Night Together" once again confirmed the power of cooperation and humanity, giving new impetus to Emfasis Non-Profit's work for a future with dignity for all.
