“Diodos”: Screening of the documentary “Roofless Dreams”

The Prevention Center “Diodos” continues its work with community-wide actions aimed at raising citizens' awareness of contemporary social issues. Within the framework of these actions, for the month of September and in cooperation with Emfasis Non-profit and “Homeless Structures of the Municipality of Rhodes”, an awareness event on the topic of homelessness will be implemented with a parallel film screening at the Cinema “Rodon”.

Thus, on Monday, September 11 at 9:00pm, the documentary, directed “Roofless Dreams” by Sotiris Danezis, will be screened with free admission for the public, at the summer Cinema “Rodon”, with the support of DOPAR.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with the scientific staff of the structures and services.

A few words about Emfasis Non-Profit

From March 2023, the Emfasis Non-Profit team visits four island regions of Greece (Rhodes, Evia, Crete (Heraklion and Rethymno) & Salamina), within the framework of the National Reach & Benefit Program EMFASEAS, implemented with a donation from the Athens I Foundation. Martine.

The primary objective of the programme is to contact and cooperate with all local bodies and voluntary groups involved in the relief of vulnerable populations in these areas. The program includes interactive experiential workshops, as well as psychosocial and empowering actions.

On the occasion of the presence of Emfasis Non-Profit in Rhodes (September 11), the documentary “Roofless Dreams”, directed by Sotiris Danezis, will be screened. The documentary chronicles the different stories of five people, as told by themselves, who live or are at risk of living in homelessness.

A few words about the Homeless Structures of the Municipality of Rhodes

The Homeless Structures of the Municipality of Rhodes (Open Day Center and Sleeping Room) are Complementary and Subsidiarity Structures of the Municipal Welfare Organization of Rhodes. They are part of the policy of temporary — transitional accommodation. More specifically, the

Open Day Centre is an open direct access structure to address basic needs of the Homeless by providing psychosocial support services.

The Dormitory is a direct overnight hospitality structure covering urgent housing needs of people living on the street or in unsuitable living conditions, providing a range of services to improve daily living and interconnection with services for the social reintegration of the Homeless.

Their aim is to provide direct support to homeless welfare issues, as well as the mobilisation, social and economic reintegration and transition of beneficiaries to independent forms of housing.
