LAMDA Development Launches “L Factor”: A Comprehensive Corporate Responsibility Program
With society and the environment as its central pillars, LAMDA Development has unveiled its comprehensive Corporate Responsibility program, the “L Factor.”
As noted by Ms. Katerina Kypraiou, Corporate Communications Senior Manager at LAMDA Development, the group’s CSR strategy will revolve around four main pillars: vulnerable social groups, the elderly—a demographic often overlooked by Greek companies—education, and culture.
“This is a project we’ve designed with a lot of love. As far as the environment is concerned, we responded immediately to the needs of Penteli after the devastating wildfires of 2024. Our belief is that we must respond decisively, promptly, and with impactful initiatives. That’s why we’ve created a special fund that will be activated in emergency situations,” she explained.
“Urban Green Dots” and Environmental Action
Speaking about the “Urban Green Dots” initiative, she emphasized their commitment to urban greening through the creation and revitalization of abandoned public green spaces. “We’re adding more and more green into neighborhoods, into the urban fabric, and breathing life into neglected areas. We’ve chosen to start with three municipalities and to redevelop two parks in each.”
Making Urban Life More Accessible for People with Disabilities
Focusing on the social pillar, she highlighted IncluCity4All, an application for mapping and identifying accessible locations across seven municipalities, in collaboration with the non-profit “With Other Eyes.” Another initiative includes the adoption and training of a guide dog, in partnership with Liberty Guide Dogs, which will be given to an individual with visual impairment.
She pointed out that, unlike in other countries where guide dogs are prescribed and provided free of charge by the state, Greece still lacks the necessary infrastructure to support the mobility of visually impaired individuals. “We’re already mapping the locations, and soon, people will be able to know where they can move safely. By 2026, we plan to have 20 accessible points per municipality. At the same time, our company adopted a guide dog, Lamda, who will be trained over two years before being assigned to a visually impaired individual. Honestly, Lamda has already changed our office life.”
“Time Together” for the Elderly
An equally important program is “Time Together,” focusing on companionship and creative engagement for the elderly, in collaboration with Emfasis Non-Profit.
Familiarizing Students with Smart Cities
In the field of education, the company is expanding its "See Life Through Other Eyes" program, raising awareness among students about disability, in collaboration with “With Other Eyes.” Also launching are the “Smart City Innovators: Smart Cities for a Sustainable Future”, developed in partnership with non-profit SciCo, aiming to connect younger generations with concepts of sustainable development, technology, and innovation.
Given that 70% of emissions originate from cities, the newer generations are more environmentally conscious and experience what is now called “green anxiety.” “So far, the ‘See Life Through Other Eyes’ program has reached 120 schools, 10,000 students, 200 teachers, and 7 municipalities. The smart cities program has been presented to 10,000 students across 3 municipalities. We want to scale our social impact and will keep doing so. Students are creating smart city models and learning through hands-on experience.”
Cultural Engagement Through Museums and Theatres
In the cultural domain, LAMDA is running “The Circle of Museums,” a flagship publishing initiative aimed at promoting the treasures of Greek archaeological museums and reconnecting citizens with the country’s rich cultural history. Special attention has also been given to the National Theatre and its theatre workshops for senior citizens.
The Ellinikon Development and Transparent Public Engagement
LAMDA Development’s leadership emphasized that the benefits from the Ellinikon development are multifaceted, and despite some opposition, construction work is progressing rapidly.
“We’ve launched a dedicated website for neighbors and residents around the development, so they can stay informed on what’s happening nearby—what construction sites are active and what actions we’re taking to reduce dust, noise, and vibrations. We welcome their questions and are open to dialogue. We’ve also presented the project’s progress to the municipal councils of the surrounding areas to foster a better understanding of the issues.”
They further revealed an open invitation to residents, announcing that they will be holding direct discussions in the coming weeks. “We’ve been working on this project since 2013. We want to transfer our knowledge, document it, and help people understand how their lives will improve living next to a major park. These are unprecedented developments for Greece—and possibly even globally. This project is expected to attract 1 million tourists and create 85,000 jobs.”
